What I love..

Last week I was lucky enough to do hair on a sweet friend for her wedding. I am in the process of building my portfolio, but well on my way. I love any opportunity do hair even if that means getting up early for my bride to make her early temple time. Here is a look at Katie's hair and my current work...

I also work at a full service salon in Holladay, UT called Hair Today. If you are needing a cut, color, style, or keratin treatment call 801.272. 7032 to make an appointment. If you are interested in wedding hair or have questions about pricing feel free to email me at alexisdespain at msn dot com.

EH?

Sea Day-Day Five

The ship plans fun activities throughout the day. We went to a photography class, and then spent the afternoon playing scrabble in our matching nerdy Alaska sweaters on our patio. We got to watch baby killer whales swim next to the ship. I was freaking out they were so damn cute!!

It was formal night so we dressed up and went to dinner and a show.
Victoria, Canada- Day Six

We only got to explore Victoria for a few hours at sun down. I wished we had more time to look around. The architecture was completely different then the rest of the trip, but equally as beautiful.

Found this chocolate shop on Main St. in Victoria. We just had to take a picture!

Our honeymoon was something I'll never forget. If you're up for some adventure and beautiful scenery you NEED go on an Alaskan cruise. I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere else. It was a little cold at times but totally worth it. I miss now just thinking about it! One day we'll live there...if only in my dreams!

Skagway- Day Four

Jake's horses name was Homer and I got Sage.

After a lot of thought and consideration Jake and I decided that Skagway was our favorite port. We road horses through the forest to where it met the ocean. The weather was the crisp fall air, the leaves were changing, and the clouds were kissing the benches of the mountains. We got to meet and talk to locals. This is when we decided we want to move here!! It was just a perfect day.

Skagway, like Juneau, was a mining town and this train made getting to the mining areas a lot easier than hiking or riding horses with all their gear.

We ate lunch and had a few local spruce tip beers that the locals recommened from this local Skagway Pub.

After riding horses we just walked around the cute little town.

Sailing away to Victoria, Canada and we spotted this during sunset. This beautifully mysterious building was in the middle of no where.

Ju-neau??

Day Three Cont.: Juneau, AK

After Tracy's Arm I thought for sure that was my favorite thing we did. Boy was I wrong! We still had so much adventure ahead of us. We ported in Juneau in the afternoon and went on a HELI-ride!! As if that wasn't cool enough..we landed on a glacier.
Jake sat in the back and I sat next to the pilot. We couldn't sit together because of weight distribution. Whenever I tell people that Jake always thinks I'm making a fat joke at him..but I'm not! hahah

 We Drank the WATER!!

 Salmon Bake:

After our Heli-ride they took us into town to this salmon bake. It sounded cheesy at first, but it had amazing clam chowder and the scenery was breath taking.

We took a photography class during our first sea day. We dinked around with all the fun settings at the salmon bake. Jake and I learned we really enjoy photography!

Juneau was originally used as a gold mining town. Jake panning for gold...didn't find anything though. Damn!

Skagway is next!
Bet you can't guess what we do next!

Tracy's Arm

Day Three- Tracy's Arm

Tracy's Arm

Before we reached Juneau we did some scenic cruising through Tracy's Arm. They told us if we wanted to see the most beautiful scenery we had to wake up at six in the morning to catch it. We ordered room service the night before to come and wake us up at 6:00 am sharp. We had our morning coffee out on the balcony and took pictures all morning! It was butt ass freezing cold!! We were in full sweats and coats, and we look down and this old man was in shorts and a tank! I don't know how he did it! Again, I don't think the pictures do it justice. Ahh I want to go back!!

Jake crashed half way through! ha

Catch us if ya can, we're heading to Ketchikan!

Ketchikan-Day Two

Woke up and opened our curtains to this breath taking view. The locals and cruise director said that it is unheard of to have clear skies and sun all day. We were so lucky to get such a beautiful day.

In this picture you can see float planes. They landed on the water right in front of our ship. If you ask me it looks a little sketchy, but they say it's perfectly safe. I don't think any of these pictures do Alaska justice. I've traveled quite a bit and this is the most gorgeous place I have ever been.

Breakfast..View was awful huh? ...GORGEOUS!!!
Zip Line Adventure

There was only one rule..Don't scream.
So what did I do on the first one....Let's just call it a yelp. I got a warning. The
Reason for the no screaming was that there were ground tours below us looking for wildlife and we didn't want to scare all the critters away. We got lucky enough to see a black bear on the way back to the ship.

The couple that were our guides were seriously awesome. They were originally from the east coast and moved to Alaska for seasonal work. They had finished their degrees and decided to travel and have adventures together as seasonal guides in different places. This was Katie and Rowen last week of work and they were going to move to Hawaii and work through the winter. After that they didn't know what was next for them, but they were up for anything. I am so jealous. I think that it is so cool. I told Jake after we graduate and before we start a family we HAVE to do something like this, even if it's just for a summer.

This sounds dumb but I felt like we were on The Bachelor. Every port we did something so exciting and adventurous. I loved doing all these firsts with Jake. We had a blast swinging from the trees.

Sailing away to Juneau, Alaska
Stay tuned
